Our Story
Willow Tree Learning Center was founded out of a personal journey with the Director’s own son. Early in his education, his teachers suspected attention deficit disorder and dyslexia, but as his mother, she knew something more was at play. With the help of his pediatrician, she pursued further evaluation, which led to a diagnosis of Autism Level One. While the public school system struggled to meet his needs, she envisioned a place where neurodivergent children could learn in ways that celebrated their strengths.
That vision became WTLC — a microlearning center grounded in project-based, experiential education. Her son’s progress reflects the power of this approach. Recently, he completed a Save the Elephants project, which included researching, writing, and sending a letter to the U.S. Senate. The experience not only expanded his vocabulary and writing skills but also gave him confidence and pride in his voice, outcomes rarely seen in his previous classroom.
